The Stephens Group Acquires Kinetics Noise Control

January 21, 2020

LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS – JANUARY 21, 2020.  The Stephens Group, LLC (“The Stephens Group”) announced today that it finalized its acquisition of Kinetics Noise Control, Inc. (“Kinetics” or the “Company”), and in conjunction with the transaction, formed a new company, Catalyst Acoustics Group (“Catalyst Acoustics”), which will serve as a platform for an elite group of acoustic, seismic, vibration and noise control companies that together offer the broadest portfolio of noise control solutions in the market.  Catalyst Acoustics will house The Stephens Group’s growing family of noise control solutions providers, which in addition to Kinetics includes Sound Seal, IAC Acoustics, Noise Barriers and Lamvin.  Terms of the transaction with Kinetics were not disclosed.

Based in Dublin, Ohio, and founded in 1958, Kinetics is a designer and manufacturer of the industry’s largest selection of innovative products and solutions that control airborne noise, isolate structure-borne vibration, enhance room acoustics, create quiet spaces and restrain non-structural building systems.  The Company’s highly engineered products include floor, ceiling and wall isolators, noise curtains and barriers, duct silencers, acoustical louvers, sound absorptive panels, baffles, enclosures and specialized floor underlayment.  At its core, Kinetics’ products control noise, limit vibration, improve sound, and protect buildings from seismic events.  Kinetics operates manufacturing facilities in Ohio and California and has sales and engineering resources in the United States, Canada, Hong Kong and China.  Kinetics’ premier independent sales rep network works with acoustical consultants, architects, designers, industrial contractors and building owners to address a variety of noise and vibration control applications across a wide range of end markets.

“We are thrilled to add Kinetics to our family of companies,” said Clay Hunter, Managing Director at The Stephens Group. “Kinetics is a clear leader in this industry, has a great team, outstanding products and an excellent sales rep network.  We are particularly pleased that Kirk Hendricks will continue in his role as President and CEO of Kinetics and that the entire Kinetics team is onboard and will remain in their respective roles.”  Hunter further noted, “We’re also excited to announce the formation of Catalyst Acoustics, which will serve as our platform for this industry.  In addition to Kinetics, Catalyst Acoustics will include our existing noise control solutions businesses.  The long-term forces driving adoption of noise control solutions are accelerating in almost every industry, and Catalyst Acoustics Group and its family of businesses will be the premier provider for those applications that require the highest quality, finest looking and best engineered solutions.”

Kirk Hendricks added, “We are looking forward to our partnership with The Stephens Group.  This transaction is exciting for us and our employees and partners.  The forming of Catalyst Acoustics Group is revolutionary for this industry, and we are excited to be able to play a leading role in its founding.  The combined resources of this group of companies is well beyond what any of us could enjoy on our own.  We are eager to leverage these additional resources to accelerate product and service development and enhance the support to our channel partners, sales representatives and customers.  Working with The Stephens Group to help form Catalyst Acoustics will help us achieve our strategic vision.”
